Mount Hood Road Index, Week 29/30

* Major toilet clog occurred – bigger than just plunging could handle. Yuck, yuck, yuck. MINUS 1

* However, we learned how to use a “closet auger” (a.k.a. as a ’snake’). Yeah for feelings of mastery. PLUS 1

* Consecutive menstrual girls. This has got to be the single most annoying thing about lesbionic relationships. MINUS 2

* spends an entire day covered in baby food, including having to go out in public. Note to self: Keep a change of clothes at work. MINUS 1

* Spent the better part of a week reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. PLUS 2 for the anticipation and enjoyment of reading aloud to each other, but MINUS 1 because now the series is over, and that’s kind of a bummer.

* ’s Fantasy Baseball team takes a major dive and gets knocked out of the top spot for the first time in months. MINUS 1

* Took a couple lovely, wooded hikes – one around Lake Shaftsbury in Vermont, and another in the Wilson Mountain Reservation out in Dedham. PLUS 2

* Lovely Shabbat dinner on our deck with and . PLUS 2 – one for the company, and one for the Carvel ice cream cake we got for the occasion.

* hosted a fabulous, vegan Queer Women Artists’ Dinner, which was a fun and interesting evening. PLUS 1

* Short weekend road trip out to Vermont to see ’s parents, which is always nice. Salmon for two meals in a row, woo hoo. PLUS 2

* Spontaneous road trip purchase – the White Stripes’ new CD Icky Thump. It rocks. PLUS 1

* Made our annual pilgrimmage out to Mass MoCA this past weekend. Among other things, we saw some beautiful and interesting conceptual art by Spencer Finch.PLUS 1

* We learned that Mass MoCA’s main gallery exhibition is on hold, because the artist who was paid $250,000 for an installation piece, and then decided, oh I don’t feel like finishing that, because he is unhappy with how it was turning out. What we’ve learned: Artists are fucking NUTCASES, which is really, really entertaining, so PLUS 1 for the sideshow.

* But, we can’t be everywhere at once, and we missed out on seeing the free Shakespeare in the Park because we were driving back from Vermont. MINUS 1

* And, when we stopped in Gardner, MA for dinner on our way back, ’s wallet decided it didn’t want to come back home with us. Damn it. MINUS 2. The drive back out to retrieve it is going to be another major pain in the ass.
